Charlie Gray is an English footballer born on 22 February 2006 in England. A defensive midfielder by trade, he joined Manchester City's academy as a Under-9 player in 2014, spending the better part of a decade working his way through the club's youth ranks before signing a scholarship contract in July 2022.
Gray's development in City's Elite Development Squad earned him recognition among his peers, culminating in the 2024–25 EDS Players' Player of the Season award — a honour voted for by his fellow squad members. He made his senior debut on 17 December 2025, coming off the bench in a 2–0 EFL Cup victory over Brentford, marking his first professional appearance for the club.
A disciplined, defensively minded midfielder, Gray reads the game quietly and focuses on protecting the backline rather than drawing attention through attacking contributions.
At the international level, Gray was called up on standby for the England Under-20 side in October 2020, though a senior cap is yet to follow.
Manchester City continue to view Gray as part of their long-term first-team planning, with his senior debut signalling the club's intention to give him opportunities to develop at the highest level.
