Jadon Sancho was born on 25 March 2000 in Camberwell, south London. He began his youth career at Watford before moving to Manchester City's academy at 14. Unwilling to wait for first-team opportunities at City, he made the bold decision to join Borussia Dortmund in August 2017 for around £8 million — becoming the first Englishman to play a Bundesliga match for the club.
Sancho's four seasons in Germany established him as one of Europe's most exciting young attackers. He recorded 17 goals and 16 assists in the 2019–20 Bundesliga season alone, was twice named Bundesliga Player of the Month, and scored twice in the 2021 DFB-Pokal final as Dortmund beat RB Leipzig 4–1. He returned to England in July 2021 when Manchester United paid a reported £73 million to bring him home, and he went on to win an EFL Cup in his second season there.
After a well-publicised falling-out with United manager Erik ten Hag in 2023, Sancho rejoined Dortmund on loan and reached the 2024 UEFA Champions League final at Wembley. A subsequent loan spell at Chelsea brought him a UEFA Conference League winners' medal in 2025, including a goal in the 4–1 final victory over Real Betis.
A direct, quick-footed winger capable of operating on either flank, Sancho is now on a season-long loan at Aston Villa, where he is looking to rediscover consistent form in the Premier League.
Sancho made his senior England debut in 2018 and appeared at UEFA Euro 2020.
