Alisson Becker was born on 2 October 1992 in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He joined Internacional's academy at the age of ten and made his senior debut in February 2013. Over four seasons with the club's first team, he made more than 100 appearances and won the Campeonato Gaúcho in each of those years before moving to Roma in July 2016 for €7.5 million.
At Roma, Alisson established himself as a top-level goalkeeper after Wojciech Szczęsny's departure, keeping 22 clean sheets across all competitions in 2017–18 and earning the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year award. That form attracted Liverpool, who signed him in July 2018 for £66.8 million, a world-record fee for a goalkeeper at the time.
Since arriving at Anfield, Alisson has collected a notable list of honours: the UEFA Champions League (2018–19), FIFA Club World Cup (2019), Premier League (2019–20 and 2024–25), FA Cup and EFL Cup (both 2021–22). In the 2020–21 season he headed in a 95th-minute winner against West Brom, the first goal scored by a Liverpool goalkeeper in the club's history. He was named the Best FIFA Goalkeeper and won the inaugural Yashin Trophy in 2019.
A commanding shot-stopper with exceptional distribution and composure in one-on-one situations, Alisson remains Liverpool's undisputed first-choice goalkeeper. He made his senior international debut for Brazil in October 2015 and has earned over 63 caps, representing the nation at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and winning the 2019 Copa América, where he was also named the tournament's best goalkeeper.
