Gabriel Jesus was born on 3 April 1997 in São Paulo, Brazil, growing up in the neighbourhood of Jardim Peri. He came through the youth system at Palmeiras, making his senior debut in March 2015 and quickly establishing himself as one of Brazilian football's most promising forwards. He was voted Best Newcomer in the 2015 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and scored 12 goals the following year as Palmeiras claimed their first national title in 22 years, earning him the Bola de Ouro award for player of the season.
In January 2017, Jesus joined Manchester City in a deal worth £27 million. During his five and a half seasons at the club, he won four Premier League titles, three EFL Cups, and an FA Cup. A notable highlight came in April 2022 when he scored four goals in a 5–1 win over Watford, completing his first Premier League hat-trick.
A direct, pressing-oriented centre-forward with sharp movement in and around the box, Jesus joined Arsenal in July 2022 for a reported £45 million, where he wears the number 9 shirt and has become a key figure in the attack. He finished his debut season at the Emirates with 11 goals and six assists across all competitions.
At international level, Jesus made his senior debut for Brazil in September 2016 and has earned 64 caps, scoring 18 goals. He won an Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and a Copa América title in 2019, and represented Brazil at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
