Jurriën Timber was born on 17 June 2001 in the Netherlands and began his footballing life at Utrecht-based club DVSU at the age of four, before moving into Feyenoord's youth system. In 2014 he joined Ajax's academy alongside his twin brother Quinten, signing his first professional contract there in 2018. He made his senior debut for Ajax in March 2020 and went on to win two Eredivisie titles and one KNVB Cup during his time at the club, also earning the Eredivisie Player of the Year and Talent of the Year awards for the 2021–22 season.
A composed, athletic defender known for his versatility and strong ball control, Timber operates primarily as a right-back. Arsenal signed him in July 2023 for an initial fee of £34 million, and although a serious ACL injury cut short his debut Premier League season, he returned to become the club's established starting right-back, making 48 appearances across all competitions in 2024–25 and scoring his first Arsenal goal against Manchester United in December 2024.
At international level, Timber made his senior debut for the Netherlands in June 2021 and has represented the country at five youth levels, including as part of the under-17 side that won the 2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He featured throughout the Netherlands' run to the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, playing 90 minutes in three of their knockout matches. He was also recalled to the squad for the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League following recovery from injury.
