Lucas Bergvall was born on 2 February 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden, and came through Brommapojkarna's youth ranks before joining Djurgårdens IF on a free transfer in January 2023. He helped Brommapojkarna win the Superettan in 2022 and became one of the Allsvenskan's most exciting young talents at 17.
In July 2024 Tottenham Hotspur signed Bergvall for around €10 million. He stepped immediately into the Spurs first team — extraordinary for a 17-year-old — and was a major part of the squad that won the UEFA Europa League in 2024–25, his first European trophy. The 2024–25 season brought 27 Premier League appearances, 12 Europa League matches, 4 EFL Cup matches with a goal, 3 FA Cup appearances, and a goal in 12 Allsvenskan matches with Djurgårdens before his July move.
The 2025–26 season has been similarly impressive: 22 Premier League appearances with a goal and 3 assists, plus 7 UEFA Champions League matches and a place in Tottenham's UEFA Super Cup squad — a senior Premier League and Champions League starter at 19.
A 187cm two-footed central midfielder with the ball-carrying ability to escape pressure and the technical security to play between the lines, Bergvall has become a Sweden A-team regular. He played in 12 senior friendlies in 2025 with 2 assists and represented Sweden U21 in qualifying — an early international career trajectory that puts him in the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad picture.
