Marc Bernal Casas was born on 5 April 2007 in Berga, Catalonia. He joined Barcelona's La Masia at six and signed his first professional contract in June 2023, making his La Liga debut on 17 August 2024 with a starting role in a 2–1 home win over Valencia. Just ten days later he ruptured the ACL in his left knee during a fixture against Rayo Vallecano, beginning a 383-day absence.
He returned to action in September 2025 and scored his first senior Barcelona goal in February 2026, before adding another in the Champions League. The club extended his contract through 2029 in September 2025 with a €500 million release clause, and he has settled into the role of second-choice defensive midfielder behind Frenkie de Jong, contributing to the 2024–25 La Liga and the 2026 Supercopa de España.
A 1.94 m defensive midfielder, Bernal is a tall, wiry holding player with calmness on the ball, accurate range of passing, and tactical awareness that has drawn comparisons to Sergio Busquets. Still nineteen, he is one of La Masia's most coveted current prospects and projects as a long-term cornerstone of Barcelona's midfield should his recovery hold.
