Patrick Dorgu was born on 26 October 2004 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and grew up in the nearby district of Husam. He began playing football alongside his brothers at local clubs before joining the Nordsjaelland academy. In July 2022 he moved to Italy, signing with Lecce's Primavera side, and quickly made an impression that attracted reported interest from clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Barcelona even before his senior debut.
Dorgu was promoted to Lecce's first team for the 2023–24 season, making his professional debut in the Coppa Italia against Como on 13 August 2023. He marked his Serie A campaign with a memorable contribution, scoring the decisive goal against Fiorentina on 2 February 2024 — his first in the Italian top flight. That form confirmed him as one of the more promising young defenders in Serie A.
A dynamic, attack-minded left-sided defender with the ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch, Dorgu completed a permanent transfer to Manchester United in February 2025 on a five-and-a-half-year contract, with the fee reported at around £25 million. He made his debut for the club in an FA Cup fixture against Leicester City on 7 February 2025.
At international level, Dorgu represented Denmark through several youth categories, appearing in UEFA Under-19 and Under-21 European Championship qualifying campaigns. He earned his senior Denmark cap on 5 September 2024 in a UEFA Nations League match against Switzerland, scoring on debut. His family has Nigerian heritage, and he also holds Nigerian nationality.
