Roony Bardghji was born on 15 November 2005 in Kuwait City to a Syrian father and a Swedish mother, and grew up in Sweden. He came through Malmö FF's youth ranks before joining FC Copenhagen as a teenager. With Copenhagen he became one of the Danish Superliga's most-discussed young attackers and won the Superliga in 2021–22, 2022–23 and 2024–25, plus the DBU Pokalen in 2022–23 and 2024–25.
His 2022–23 Superliga campaign at 17 produced 7 goals in 23 league matches, plus a UEFA Champions League goal in 9 group-stage matches — extraordinary output for a teenager. After an injury-disrupted 2023–24 season, Barcelona signed Bardghji in July 2025 in a high-profile move.
His Barcelona debut season has been productive: 19 La Liga appearances with a goal and an assist, 5 UEFA Champions League matches with an assist, plus a goal and 2 assists in the Spanish Super Cup as Barcelona won the 2025 trophy. He also won the Trofeo Joan Gamper in 2025.
A two-footed creative attacker comfortable on either flank with elite close control, Bardghji is one of the most exciting young Swedish attackers in Europe. At just 20 he has been a Sweden senior squad member since 2024 and is in line for a major role at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one of the squad's most technically gifted creators.
