Santiago Tomás Giménez Zolotarchuk was born on 18 April 2001 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but moved to Mexico at the age of three when his father — also a footballer — joined Veracruz, and he chose to represent Mexico internationally. He came through Cruz Azul's academy and made his professional debut in 2017, winning the Liga MX championship in 2021.
In July 2022 Feyenoord signed him on a four-year deal. His debut European season was extraordinary, with 23 goals across all competitions — a Mexican record — and he went on to win the Eredivisie (2022-23), KNVB Cup (2023-24) and Johan Cruyff Shield (2024). By January 2025 he had also become Mexico's all-time top scorer in the Eredivisie. In the 2024-25 season he set a Mexican record for Champions League goals in a single season with six.
On 3 February 2025 AC Milan signed him for around €32 million on a four-and-a-half-year contract; he wears the number 7 shirt.
For Mexico, Giménez made his senior debut in 2021 and has won two CONCACAF Gold Cups (2023, 2025) — scoring the winning goal in the 2023 final — and the 2025 CONCACAF Nations League.
A 1.83 m centre-forward with strong movement, sharp finishing in the box and an underrated link game, "Bebote" is the kind of clinical penalty-area striker Milan have wanted to pair with Rafael Leão's wide creativity.
