Bendito Boanova Mantato was born on 25 January 2008 in England, of Angolan and Malagasy heritage. He joined Manchester United's academy at the age of nine in 2017 and has steadily progressed through the club's youth ranks, earning a reputation as one of the more promising talents in their development system.
One of his standout moments came on 28 February 2025, when he scored a 99th-minute winner against Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup quarterfinals, securing a 3–2 victory for United's U18 side. He went on to make his senior debut on 30 December 2025, coming off the bench in the 75th minute of a Premier League draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A versatile and direct wide player with pace and strong dribbling ability, Mantato has drawn comparisons to Bukayo Saka for his style of play. Manchester United view him as a long-term prospect within their first-team setup.
On the international stage, Mantato has represented England at youth level despite being eligible for Angola and Madagascar. He made his England U18 debut on 3 September 2025 in a 3–1 win over Uzbekistan, and was part of the England squad at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, where he contributed an assist in a group stage win over Haiti before the team was eliminated in the round of sixteen by Austria.
