Ryan Gravenberch was born on 16 May 2002 in the Netherlands and came through the renowned Ajax academy, joining as a youngster in 2010. He made his senior Ajax debut in September 2018 at just 16 years and 130 days old, becoming the youngest player in Eredivisie history at that point — breaking a record previously held by Clarence Seedorf. During his time at Ajax he won three Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups before moving to Bayern Munich in 2022, where he added a Bundesliga winners' medal.
Gravenberch joined Liverpool in September 2023 for a reported €40 million. His career at Anfield took a significant turn in the 2024–25 season when manager Arne Slot repositioned him as a deep-lying defensive midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 system. He thrived in that role, earning widespread praise — including a standout display in a 3–0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford — and finishing the season as Premier League champion and winner of the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
As a player, Gravenberch is a tall, composed midfielder who combines strong defensive positioning with the ability to carry the ball and play forward passes under pressure.
Liverpool have since tied him to a new long-term contract, underscoring how central he has become to the club's plans.
On the international stage, Gravenberch made his senior debut for the Netherlands in March 2021 and was part of the squad that reached UEFA Euro 2024. He also won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship with the Netherlands in 2018.
