Levi Colwill was born on 26 February 2003 in Southampton, Hampshire, and has spent almost his entire footballing life at Chelsea, joining the club's academy at under-nine level. He signed his first professional contract at Stamford Bridge in February 2020 and went on to develop through two productive loan spells — a season at Huddersfield Town in the Championship, where he scored his first senior goal against Sheffield United, and a year at Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, where he earned 13 starts and attracted a reported £30 million bid from Brighton that Chelsea turned down.
Colwill returned to Chelsea for the 2023–24 season and signed a new six-year contract. He scored his first goal for the club in a 3–2 win over Brighton in December 2023, and went on to play a key role in Chelsea's 2024–25 UEFA Conference League triumph. His most significant moment in a Chelsea shirt came on the final day of the 2024–25 Premier League season, when his goal secured a 1–0 win over Nottingham Forest and confirmed the club's fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification.
A composed, ball-playing centre-back who can also operate at left-back or left wing-back, Colwill is regarded as a central figure in Chelsea's defensive plans for the coming years, though an ACL injury sustained in August 2025 is expected to keep him sidelined for much of the 2025–26 season.
On the international stage, Colwill won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with England U21 in 2023 and made his senior debut in a friendly against Australia in October 2023, going on to earn his first competitive senior cap against the Republic of Ireland in September 2024.
